Care Guide

Caring for your running shoes is easy. These simple habits can add hundreds of kilometres to their life.

Drying
  • Let shoes air dry at room temperature.
  • If you need to hasten the drying - stuff them with soft absorbent cloth or paper towels to absorb moisture.
  • Avoid high heat (like heaters, fires and dryers) which can drastically shorten the life of the foam and adhesives.
Cleaning
  • Don't put running shoes in the washing machine or use standard detergent.
  • Use a soft brush, lukewarm water and a very mild soap.
Storage
  • Store shoes in a shaded place. Extended UV exposure can damage foam and weaken upper materials.
  • Don't leave them in your car when the car is likely to get very hot. Internal  temperatures can reach extreme levels, which can damage your shoes just like any other heat source. Rather store your shoes indoors.
Usage
  • Running shoes last longest when they're used for what they were designed to do. Keep your road shoes for the road and your trail shoes for the trail.
  • To keep them newer for longer, avoid wearing them when doing activities that are out of their scope - ballroom dancing, rock-climbing, skateboarding, etc.
When It's Time to Replace Them

Running shoe lifespan is influenced as much by number of hours spent running, standing or walking the shoe as number of kilometres covered.  Replace them when the cushioning feels flat, the outsole is heavily worn, or the upper no longer holds your foot securely.
